Trailer Design
comment
hey,
its J. i cant seem to post a comment, well i cant see it after i post it, doesn't come up.
anyway if u can see it ignore this.
i just wanted to say those posters are cool, i found the ones i liked the best were simple, with big words, but only a few, not too cluttered and used negative space well with simple pics.
perhaps keep the colors to a minimum as well only 3max? although that's just a personal comment...
catchy slogan.... we had
'your paying for it'
'dont take a dump anywhere'
'you win' - referring to ta benefits and trailer program

In response to the beautiful recycling posters that are out there, is is some of the illegal dumping posters.
Notice the negative impact of these examples, there is no positive application of design to promote doing the 'right' thing. Lets change these thoughts!
Recycling Posters.
The grouping of each section of materials is clear and concise, this method is perfect for the garage poster we are thinking about to be distributed to the public in the community.
a graphically bold approach to recycling, (this is probably more suited to a urban/ student market) showing that recycling can be trendy. Do we use a similar approach for the print media?
The simple visual language of these posters provide a captivating way in which to present facts, and raise AWARENESS of the issue of illegal dumping.
I think this is a fantastic poster!
Play on words. The pun is wonderful. Lets think of something witty for the campaign like this!
This aesthetic is what I was thinking for the garage poster, black screen print of silhouettes on a recycled paper background?
War propaganda style poster.
There are heaps more of these posters on www.greenpariotposters.org

Buttonderry waste Management Facility
This is facility is managed by Wyong Council. therefore we can assume that the funds go to the sate government.
as to tax deductions any business can claim the tax back from the tip fees, by requesting a tax invoice from the waste facility at the time of dumping. to determine how much they may be able to gain back refer to the fees and charges, in the GST column. here i have provided a picture but it isn't very clear. the link is:

also they business owners may also be able to claim the tax back from the petrol they used to drive out there.

Packaging the Media Package.
There are a few elements to a media package that we should start thinking about in order to create a holistic presentation, those being:
1) press ads.
2) distributable media. eg. flyers, posters, fridge magnets, bumper stickers, post cards etc.
3) enforcement tape.
4) billboard, bus stop, bus back ads.
5) radio, live reads.
After discussion yesterday, it seems that we are already thinking about distributable media in terms of the garage poster to be placed in letter boxes. Press ads could be considered as the toilet door ads present in local pubs/ and porta-loos on building sites. The billboard/bus stop ads will be reliant on a consistent visual language and a catchy slogan to tie the elements of the package together.
Considering we are also doing the trailer design and utilising this as a part of our campaign, we are targeting the local community of home renovators etc. Ensuring we continue thinking about the target market ( that being the builders/ landscapers who are professionally responsible for their waste, as well as the home renovator who is not so aware of the correct disposal proceedures) we can ensure the campaign hits the entire community across a variety of levels.
Myths and Mysteries.
It became evident when researching the issue of illegal dumping that a few urban myths were constantly being used (abused?) by the local communities, the most common being:
1) " The normal council garbage service collects verge waste."
2) " I never see a bulk waste day notice so I leave it on the curb."
3) " I didn't know dumping was illegal. Nobody gets fined."
4) " Other people take it and use it."
5) " I don't know where the tip is, or how to transport the material there."
Is it these myths that we wish to unveil the truth upon? Do we want to highlight to the community where and when they can easily dispose of their waste to prevent it ending up in private property?
